When most of us think of mental health we think of mental disorders or illnesses. Some of the most common types are anxiety, depression, and Bipolar. In fact experts say one in four people will suffer from a mental illness at one point in their lives. But mental can mean other things like just your day to day routine and how your mood is. Mental illness is important because it affects how we interact with others around us and how we think and feel. It also can be a factor in how we deal with stress. In the U.S and many other parts of the world, mental illness is one of the leading causes of disability.

Why should we talk about mental health?

we should spread awareness about mental health so that we can help people who suffer from mental illnesses. Spreading awareness can help someone who suffers learn about there mind and how they can get better and feel happy. One of the biggest issues when people have mental illness and want to get better is the stigma around getting help. There are various treatments for people who want to get help and not all treatments work for everyone. It is best to work with a doctor to come up with a plan on how to treat it. Some of the most common types of treatment include: psychotherapy, medication, and self-help.

How can I help myself?

There are some things you can introduce to your daily routine that can improve mental health overall. Some of these things include: exercise, eating healthy foods, volunteering or making a new friend, spending time outdoors, and getting some sleep. There are a lot of factors that contribute to our day to day happiness and these are some of the most important ones.
